Physician and SA国际传媒 alumnus Dr. Bijan Goodarzi 鈥77 has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at his alma mater.
The chief medical officer and medical director of , Goodarzi received the 2021 SA国际传媒 Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of his significant contributions to health care.
鈥淪A国际传媒 is proud to have Dr. Bijan Goodarzi as an alumnus and honored to welcome him as a new member of our Board of Trustees,鈥 said SA国际传媒 President Chris A. Wood. 鈥淒r. Goodarzi has achieved a stellar career in the medical profession. He credits his alma mater with preparing him for a meaningful and purposeful life. Through his Board service, he intends to ensure SA国际传媒 remains vital for students today and for generations to come.鈥
Goodarzi began his career at Women鈥檚 Health Specialists in Zanesville, Ohio, and later pioneered a hospital-based prenatal care program. The program later shifted to Muskingum Valley Health Center. In 2018, it was named the Dr. Bijan Joseph Goodarzi Health Center in honor of the caring physician, who along with MVHC founder Chuck Hunter, established it.
He also dedicated his career to additional sectors of the medical profession by working as a clinical instructor and medical director.
Goodarzi shares a long history with SA国际传媒. Both of his parents 鈥 Dr. Manucher Goodarzi 鈥48 and the late Kathryn Elward Goodarzi 鈥49, as well as his uncle, the late Joseph Elward 鈥50 鈥 are alumni.
鈥淚t is a privilege and an honor to serve on the Board of Trustees,鈥 Goodarzi said. 鈥淚 have been blessed to have had the education at SA国际传媒, to make lifelong friends and memories, and to have known great professors. I hope I can live up to this high standard.鈥
After graduating SA国际传媒 cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1977, Goodarzi went on to attend medical school at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia. He completed his residency at Akron City Hospital in Ohio.
Goodarzi is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio.
